Lukas “Luke” Peter Sprauer, a cherished son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, passed away tragically following a motorcycle accident in Los Angeles, California, on September 4, 2026. He was 25 years old.

Born on October 3, 2000, Luke brought warmth and happiness into the lives of those around him from an early age. He was known for his big heart, infectious smile, quick wit, and fierce loyalty to the people he loved. Sweet, kind, and sensitive by nature, Luke had a special ability to make others feel seen, valued, and cared for.

Luke grew up in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, where he made many of the memories that would remain precious to his family throughout their lives. He attended Shrewsbury Borough School before continuing his education at Red Bank Regional High School. During his high school years, Luke proudly played basketball, sharing the excitement, friendships, and camaraderie that came with being part of a team.

Those who knew Luke understood that family was at the center of his life. He treasured the time he spent with his parents, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. Family trips were especially meaningful to him, providing opportunities to laugh, make memories, and simply enjoy being together. Some of his happiest moments were spent surrounded by the people he loved most.

Luke had a wide range of interests that reflected his energetic, curious, and caring personality. He enjoyed playing chess, cooking, and working out. He appreciated both the challenge of a thoughtful game of chess and the satisfaction of preparing a meal or staying active. Yet, above all of these interests, Luke valued spending time with family and creating meaningful connections with the people in his life.

He also possessed a profound affection for animals. While living in California, Luke especially enjoyed working with dogs. His kindness and gentle nature extended naturally to animals, and his time working with dogs was another reflection of the compassion that was such an important part of who he was.

Luke leaves behind a family devastated by his loss but forever grateful for the years they were blessed to share with him. He is survived by his devoted parents, Michele and Scott Sprauer, and his loving siblings, Ben and Aly Sprauer.

He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Debra and Gregg Terry, Kory Turner, Rich and Wendy Kontir, Keith Sprauer, Jeff and Amy Kontir, Keith and Melissa Kontir, and Mia Kontir, as well as his beloved cousins, Ryan, Kyle, Justin, Jacquelyn, Emma, Keller, Tucker, Wyatt, Tanner, Max, and Lucy. Each held a special place in Luke’s heart, and each will carry their own treasured memories of him.

Luke was predeceased by his adored grandparents, Lou and Jackie Sprauer and Richard and JoAnn Kontir, as well as his uncle, Roger Turner. Their absence was undoubtedly felt throughout his life, while the love and memories they shared remained an important part of his family story.

A memorial service celebrating Luke’s life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave, Red Bank, NJ 07701.

A prayer service and eulogy will immediately commence at 1:30 p.m.
