Millwood Middle School Student Death – 11-Year-Old Jaheir Booker Dies After Collapsing During Football Practice

The Millwood community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Jaheir Booker, an 11-year-old fifth-grade student who died Thursday after collapsing during a middle school football practice.

According to Millwood Public Schools Superintendent Cecilia Robinson-Woods, the medical emergency occurred during what had been a routine football practice. Coaches responded immediately after Booker collapsed and initiated a heat-related response as part of their emergency protocol. Although the day was relatively cool, the coaches acted quickly and followed established procedures to provide assistance.

Booker was taken to a hospital following the emergency, where he was pronounced dead. The sudden loss has left students, school staff, coaches and families struggling to process what happened.

Robinson-Woods praised the middle school football coaches and other adults who responded, noting the difficulty of witnessing such an emergency involving a child.
