The Ventura community is mourning the tragic loss of Connor Scott Overstreet, a 29-year-old U.S. Coast Guard lieutenant whose death has left his family, friends, fellow service members and loved ones heartbroken.

Overstreet was based at Coast Guard Air Station Ventura and was in Washington for a training mission when he was fatally shot on August 23, 2026, in the Bryn Mawr-Skyway area near Seattle. Authorities responding to reports of gunfire found him suffering from a gunshot wound. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him and determined that he died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Investigators are treating the case as a homicide.
