Daniel Hussein Shooting, Thomastown, AU Death – Marcus and Lucas Jajou Charged With Murder

Daniel Hussein, a 22-year-old plumber who was engaged to be married, was shot dead in Thomastown, Melbourne’s north, on Sunday evening, leaving his family and friends devastated.

Hussein was at HR Uren Reserve in Thomastown with friends at about 7:30 p.m. on Father’s Day when he was fatally shot. Loved ones were heard crying and screaming as paramedics attempted to revive him, but he died at the scene.

Two brothers, Marcus Jajou, 19, and Lucas Jajou, 20, both from Donnybrook, have been charged with murder over Hussein’s death. Homicide detectives arrested the pair on Wednesday evening alongside a 19-year-old woman from Lalor. The woman was later released pending further inquiries.

The Jajou brothers appeared briefly before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court via video link on Thursday night. Both were remanded in custody, while prosecutors were granted two months to prepare their brief of evidence.

The court heard that extensive forensic examinations, vehicle investigations, ballistic reports and psychological evaluations would form part of the case against the brothers. Marcus Jajou appeared on camera with large bruises and grazes on his face and was booked to see a custody nurse. The court was also told it was the first time either brother had been in custody.

Hussein’s family described him as a young man with his future ahead of him. Relatives said he had recently bought a house and was preparing to marry.

His brother said at the scene that Hussein “had his whole life ahead of him,” while his uncle, Abdallah Hussein, shared an emotional tribute online.

“I still cannot believe you are gone,” he wrote, remembering his nephew’s smile and voice.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing. Marcus and Lucas Jajou are due to return to court for a committal hearing in February.
