Dylan Higgins, 17, of Wamego, Kansas, has died following a UTV crash northeast of the city, leaving his family, classmates, teammates and the wider community mourning a young life lost far too soon.

Higgins was identified as the passenger who died in the crash, which occurred at about 12:50 a.m. Sunday, September 13, 2026, near Old Post Road and Genn Road in Pottawatomie County. Emergency responders found several people at the scene, and Higgins was pronounced dead after being ejected from the UTV.

According to the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was traveling east on Old Post Road when the driver attempted to turn south onto Genn Road and lost control. The driver, identified as 18-year-old Harry Costa of Wamego, was not injured. Another passenger, 16-year-old Emily Crocker of Wamego, suffered minor injuries and was not taken to hospital. The investigation remains ongoing.
