Peter Katsambanis Obituary, Perth, WA Death – Karalee Katsambanis Mourns Loss of Husband

PERTH, Western Australia — Family, friends and the wider Perth community are mourning the death of Peter Katsambanis, a former Western Australian parliamentarian remembered for his public service, international diplomacy and commitment to his family and community.

Peter was described in tributes as a unique legislator who served in three different chambers of Parliament in Australia. During his political career, he was recognized for advocating for his constituents and his party, while also developing a strong interest in Australia’s relationships with Greece and Cyprus.

His international work included promoting Australia’s Anzac connections in Greece, advocating for the rights of Greek and Cypriot Australians and supporting efforts to strengthen trade and investment between Australia, Greece and Cyprus.

Peter also held leadership roles within the Perth Greek and Cypriot community. He served as president of PADEE–WHIA from 2016 to 2021 after previously serving as its treasurer. The organization acknowledged his efforts to strengthen connections between Australia and the Greek and Cypriot diaspora.

The Church of Saints Constantine and Helen in Perth also expressed condolences to the Katsambanis family, remembering Peter’s years in Western Australia and his generous support of the church and wider community. The parish particularly noted his contribution during his time as a member of the WA State Parliament and through his service as vice president of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia.

Tributes from friends described Peter as a committed public servant, a devoted Collingwood Football Club supporter and, above all, a loving husband and father.

Peter’s wife, Karalee Katsambanis, and their family — Andrew, Angelica, Zoe, Ross and Nikkie — have been remembered in messages of sympathy following his passing.

One tribute noted that Peter had struggled with his heart health in recent years and described his death as coming far too young.

As family and friends say goodbye, Peter is being remembered for his service, friendships and devotion to those closest to him.
