HAMILTON, Ontario — Family and friends are mourning the unexpected passing of Terrance Kersteins, who died on September 5, 2026, at the age of 18. Born in Hamilton on May 26, 2008, Terrance was remembered by those closest to him for his kindness, enthusiasm and infectious personality. He was the beloved son of Kim and Peter Kersteins and cherished brother of Joey. Terrance was also a treasured grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. His family said he will be deeply missed by his extended family and the many friends whose lives were touched by his presence. A Life Filled With Friendship and Sports Terrance attended Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Elementary School and Cathedral High School, where he developed lasting friendships and made a positive impression on classmates, teachers and others around him. He was passionate about sports, with hockey holding a particularly special place in his life. Having played for most of his life, he valued both the competition and the friendships that came with being part of a team. Outside of sports, music was another important part of Terrance’s life. He enjoyed singing, playing guitar and sharing music with the people around him. Terrance also believed in giving back. He volunteered with the Canadian Council of the Blind, reflecting the generosity and willingness to help others that family and friends remember. His beloved dog, Remi, was another important part of his life and remained a constant companion. Memorial Service A Memorial Visitation will be held at L.G. Wallace Funeral Home, 151 Ottawa Street North, Hamilton, on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Memorial speeches will take place at 11:30 a.m., followed by light refreshments. In memory of Terrance, donations may be made to CNIB Guide Dogs, a cause described as close to his heart. Though his life ended far too soon, Terrance’s family and friends will carry forward memories of his smile, generosity, friendships, love of hockey and music, and willingness to be involved in the lives of others. He leaves behind a family and community grieving an immeasurable loss, while remembering an 18-year-old whose kindness and zest for life made a lasting impression.
