Chase Murphy Crash, Parker, CO – Teen Faces Vehicular Homicide Charge After Fatal Collision

An 18-year-old Parker teenager, Chase Murphy, is facing charges following a late-night two-vehicle crash that killed his lone passenger on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, according to Parker police.

The collision happened at the intersection of Motsenbocker Road and Mainstreet on the west side of Highway 83. Police said preliminary information indicates Murphy was traveling eastbound toward Twenty Mile Road at more than twice the posted speed limit when his vehicle entered the intersection and struck another vehicle traveling westbound.

Authorities said the passenger in Murphy’s vehicle was ejected during the crash and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Police have not released the passenger’s identity.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured. Investigators have not confirmed whether that driver was attempting to make a turn when the collision occurred.

Parker Police Public Information Officer Josh Hans said excessive speed was a contributing factor in the fatal crash. He emphasized the devastating consequences of driving at such a high speed, saying the victim was a brother and son who would still be alive had the speeding not occurred.

Evidence remained visible at the scene Wednesday morning, including skid marks, debris, broken plastic and glass, damaged grass and a tree. Police markings extended from the intersection toward a median.

Residents told authorities that speeding has become an ongoing concern in the neighborhood.

Murphy was transported to a local hospital for treatment before being booked into the Douglas County Detention Center. He was being held on suspicion of vehicular homicide, reckless driving and speeding more than 40 miles per hour over the posted limit.

Murphy was scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning.

Police expressed condolences to the victim’s family and friends while urging drivers throughout Parker to slow down, follow posted speed limits and take care of one another on the roads.
