Christina Burbano Jeffrey Obituary, Canyon Country Death – Santa Clarita Community Mourns Musician Killed in Crash

The Santa Clarita community is mourning the death of Christina Burbano Jeffrey, a 50-year-old Canyon Country resident, accomplished musician and educator who was killed in a four-vehicle collision on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

The crash occurred around 12:15 p.m. near Soledad Canyon Road and Rainbow Glen Drive in Canyon Country. Preliminary information indicates that a white Honda CR-V was traveling in the wrong direction before colliding with other vehicles. Christina was reportedly in the third vehicle struck and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other people were transported to a hospital following the collision, with one reported to be in critical condition. Authorities have not released further identifying information about those involved. The circumstances that led to the Honda entering opposing lanes remain under investigation.

Beyond the tragedy of her death, Christina was known throughout the Santa Clarita area for her extensive contributions to music. She was a violinist, educator and performer who taught violin, viola, cello, piano and music theory. She was also associated with the music faculty at College of the Canyons.

Her musical career included classical, church, mariachi, country, rock and jazz performances, as well as studio sessions, live performances and orchestral projects. Her background reflected a broad commitment to both music education and performance.

Christina earned a bachelor’s degree in violin performance, with additional studies in composition, viola, piano and voice. She later earned a master’s degree in ethnomusicology from Arizona State University, where her academic work included research involving Spanish-language radio and Mexican diaspora communities.

Her sudden passing has been felt by family, friends, students, colleagues and members of the local music community. Those who knew her are now remembering her dedication to teaching, her musical talent and the contributions she made through years of performance and education.

As investigators continue examining the fatal Canyon Country collision, Christina Burbano Jeffrey’s life and work remain a lasting part of the community she served.
